Nick had somehow agreed to send Max $4,000 for his poor stable (but not stable) Mother with her blockage/fall/heart attack, who needed cards to pay the hospital. Obviously, you have to swipe Target cards in the patients’ butts to redeem.
Following that, Max didn’t answer any more phone calls. We suspect he was either asleep or in deep panic about how he is going to hold Sherry off for the weekend in California.

Rinoa played a guessing game on what this scam was about and came up with a TV and remote control (incorrect, it was a TV and a games console). Alex was very sus and two minutes in, he said, “You nearly got me there. What is the name of your YouTube channel?”
Alex: “Talk in a real voice,” not knowing there was no voice changer being used.
It was a challenge to extend the call for another 62 minutes talking about music and apples! Sour apples are the best, of course. Alex was reluctant but wanted to hear his voice on the YouTube channel toward the end. He asked for Apple gift cards from Walmart. So of course, Rinoa bought Applebees gift cards.
