Rinoa as Jessica called scammers. There were several calls from Max, which she ignored.
James from eBay was on the line but, just for spice, Rinoa patched in Max and Mr. BeckHAM, the grant scammer calling from Nigeria, for many minutes of controlled chaos.
BeckHAM: “‘Ello?”
Max: “Who is this?”
James: “What you have to do is go and get the cards.”
BeckHAM: “’Ello?”
Max: “Where is Sherry?”
James: “So, just get the eBay cards.”
BeckHAM: “Mumble-umble.”
Max: “Go outside and call again.”
James: “Don’t say what you want the cards for. Just say personal use.”
BeckHAM: “What is going on?”
Max: “Does someone have my wife’s phone? Are you from the Walmart? Has my wife left her phone there?”
BeckHAM continues a lethargic buzz of incomprehensible murmuring.
Max: “MY WIFE’S PHONE!”
James: “Who are you?”
Max: “She is my wife.”
James: “I was just talking to your wife. You are lying. Who are you?”
Max: “She has lost her phone. She has a problem in her brains.”
At various points Rinoa merges calls from James and others, including a Nina, until all scammers are exhausted.
Jessica is manic.
Jessica: “GET THEM OFF MY PHONE! Isn’t this your job?”
Then, there was a bizarre reverse-auction where Rinoa encourages other scammers on the line to suggest lower bids than the amount that Mr. BeckHAM really wants.
Jessica: “You say $2,000, but how low will you go?”
Chat helped by suggesting extremely low sums of money, each lower than the last, until BeckHAM mumbled away thinking he would not be getting his Nike cards today.
We were not able to work out timings of how long this call went on as scammers were bouncing in and out of the call during the scambait.
Rinoa tried some other scammers but they were hanging up, paranoid from every character she was using to call. Eventually Rinoa was trying to get in, “returning your call” in the seconds before they hung up.
A successful evening randomly merging scammers into each other’s lives!
