JW vs. Alex Wilson (the Bear) & Nick Wilson & Michael Morris — PayPal

Refund Amount: $432.25 for Target eCard

Scam Amount: $10,000

Order ID #3764547

JW had a charge of $432.25 to PayPal for a Target eCard.

Alex the Bear said it was a charge made by a Mark Lucas from Mt. View, California who made the charge under her name.

JW wanted to cancel the purchase and get her funds back. We had to bear with him.

The PayPal Cancellation form came up. It requested the County… so JW puts Golden Gate Bridge County. Her bank was Detaches Bank and she wanted the refund to her savings account ending in 6969.

Alex the Bear transferred her to Nick Wilson, Senior Manager. He gave her a transaction ID #xxxx 1452 0786. She checked her bank for the refund but it wasn’t there. Her bank was canceling the transaction, so Nick would have to refund the money himself by opening their banking portal on her computer.

Nick was not happy because “You keep on speaking! Let me talk!”

JW was transferred back to Alex (the Bear) Wilson, Employment ID #DR78056 Bear Code.

He gave transaction ID# ABXY3485567QXGHK.

JW was passed back to Nick Wilson. Nick opened the “Welcome to World Banking Portal” for her to complete. He told her to type her name with no backspacing. JW would get her refund but first in the amount of $100.00. The rest then would follow instantly.

Three times, JW entered the $100 amount but got an error message each time. Nick told her it was because she clicked on “enter” which she should not have done. JW said it must be because she typed a dollar sign before.

Boop. Call got disconnected on his side. Nick called back.

JW logged into her account. She received $10,000 instead of $100. Nick said it is a keyboard error on her side. She said it was not her mistake.

Nick: It is a very big mistake done from your side! If you do not refund our money, your account to gone freeze!

Her computer was frozen. He said it was a glitch from her keyboard… not his keyboard.

JW: My computer has been weird since I started talking to you. It’s all frozen!

Nick: You can’t run away with our money!

Nick sounded like he was in a bathroom. He said he was not. She was to log into her account again so he could command the server to show her something. He said that “no human being looks on her computer.”

JW: Did you tell the server to add two extra zeros? It’s not my fault! My computer has never done this before. STOP BEAR-SPLAINING TO ME! It’s like pigeons are on my computer making a mess.

Nick would lose his job if she did not refund their money. JW said she was not a business and did not know how to refund money. She had never had to do that before. She is not a bank.

Nick told her to log in to her account again to return the $10,000. JW said that, when she looked at the $5,072.10 checking account, balance was only $1,000. He had her look now. It was back to $5,072.10.

She was going to restart her computer as it was not behaving and he was not listening to her.

Michael Morris, the Billing Manager (one “O”), came on the phone. She explained she didn’t make the mistake and that his colleague didn’t explain any of this to her. She didn’t know how to refund money. She had never issued a refund to anyone.

Her computer kept updating. Michael said, if she would just give him 2 minutes of time, it would be done. He asked how far away her bank was. She said, 2 hours. Did she have a debit card? She said, yes. Did she have a Target, CVS, or Kroger nearby? She should get dressed.

JW did not understand what Michael was doing. He said that she needed to go outside. She didn’t follow. He said that her computer kept updating because she was connected to their portal. She needed to keep quiet.

JW shut off the computer. She didn’t need the server snooping through her computer. She believes in privacy! “We lose privacy every day,” she said.

Michael told her to go to Target and carry her debit card with her; he would let her know the things. She needed to follow the criteria, he said.

JW: Who do you think you are Bucko?

She said, if she told him to drive north for 3 hours and he will get his money… it’s the same thing. He liked privacy on his side, but he could snoop through her computer. It didn’t work that way!

He started to say that he would take legal action against her… BOOP. She hung up!

He called back. “Did I tell you to hang up?”

JW: Now you are telling me what to do! I don’t know who gave you such a FAT HEAD! I am not going blindly to the store buddy. Call my bank. Why am I fixing this problem? You suck!

Michael said that he had taken all her money… BOOP. She hung up.

He called back. She told him that she hung up because he was upsetting her. Every time she got on the computer, nothing was working. She didn’t know how to refund people. This was the most work she had EVER had to do for a refund!

Michael: OK, you can send the money back by Target gift cards.

Boop! She hung up.

He called back.

JW: I have no interest in talking to you, Michael Morris!

Boop. She hung up.

He called back.

JW: I don’t know why you keep calling me. I don’t want to talk to you!

FINAL BOOP!  She left him wondering… The entire call center was laughing at Michael Morris. A Zelle account was given and will be reported.

JW vs. Eddie — Amazon Support

JW told Eddie that she had noticed that a package was being delivered to an address that is not hers. It’s a TV of some kind… code TS1000265. The item was being shipped and she wanted to cancel it. She did not make the purchase. Eddie said that the purchase was made on her account using her card. In order to cancel it, Amazon could only do it.

He would connect her to the Amazon server. Since someone had access to her account, they needed to block it.

BOOP. She hung up. The line was a bad connection and Eddie was hard to hear over the static on the line.

JW vs. Repik & Prakash at McAfee

Scam Amt. $499.00

JW said her code didn’t activate for her trusted security. Repik asked for her email address.

JW said that she fed carrots to her rabbits. Her email address was a play on the “what’s invisible and smells like carrots?” Answer: Rabbit Farts.

She was transferred to the Senior Supervisor, Prakash.

Prakash: So you want McAfee installed on your computer, Jessie?

She told him it wasn’t working, and she uninstalled it. Her computer was 3-4 years old.

She couldn’t get into that rabbit email any more as she had forgotten the password.

He told her to register with a different email. He would then do a brief check on her computer.

He asked when she last did a cleanup on her computer. She had never done any.

He explained cookies to her. “Does that make sense, Jessie?” She had unwanted cookies and junk files on her computer. They kept on occupying space on her computer and slowed it down.

JW: So, my computer has eaten too many cookies?

Prakash: Yes.

JW: I need to feed the computer healthy stuff…like carrots and broccoli versus cookies.

Prakash: You don’t have to feed broccoli to your computer.

JW: I meant metaphorically.

[Prakash chuckled.]

He showed her all the unwanted stuff.

JW: Is it more cookies?

Prakash: Yes, they hide the cookies everywhere.

Prakash hid her screen and would do a complete cleanup of cookies, junk files, and update all the drivers of the OS. They would install McAfee Total Protection for 3 years for a one-time charge of $499.00. He told her that this was 3 years of human technical support offering any help she might need.

JW told him that $499 was a lot of money. “You don’t want to deal with my printer… I took it out and beat it with a bat!”

He said he would secure her network. She asked if there are any coupons. He told her, “No, this is the best deal and it is not like that.” He would register her computer.

JW said she would send him a check. He said that he just wanted the routing number and the check number. She said that she didn’t know where her checks were right then. She asked if she could pay with Bitcoin. Prakash said, “No.” She asked if he would take gift cards. He said that they could take Target gift cards. She said that she had one Target gift card with $7.88, which could get the amount started. She also had an Olive Garden one…

Prakash asked for her PayPal. She didn’t have one. He said that she could use her credit or debit card. She said she would use her credit card, but asked if there was any other way other than over the phone that she could pay on her end.

He said, “Yes.” He also would give her all the information to call in the future. She could call Rediscover Systems USA Inc’s toll-free number.

JW would go to the website to pay for it. Prakash gave her a WhatsApp# and his extension is #2002. It would be for the Advanced Cleanup for 3 years, totaling $499.00 with tax. The money would not be paid to McAfee, but to Rediscover Systems USA, Inc. She would get her card and call back. He should leave the page open for her to call back after she made the payment.
