JW vs Adam Smith (continued) – spoke with him yesterday

Adam Smith answered when we called. She was calling because she still had his money, couldn’t ship it, and didn’t know what to do with it. He said he was calling her continuously. She said there were about 20 missed calls.  He said to tell UPS, “it’s just a shoe.”  She refused to send cash, false reason or not, because it’s illegal. He asked if she was dumb enough to not understand what he was saying. She said she would go behind the bars. He said, “No,” he would take care of it, and it wouldn’t be a problem if she didn’t tell them that there was cash. Lots of similar back-and-forth ensued.

He asked where was the nearest, different UPS store. He said to say that it was a shoe (singular! hah) that was a gift for her brother. She asked how many years in prison she was looking at. He kept saying she wouldn’t get caught. She asked if HE had been in prison. He said, “yes,” and it was nothing.

Adam: “Don’t use your brain. Let me use mine.”

She was in the car, off to the other UPS store, about 7 or 8 minutes to get there, 10 at most. When we got to the UPS parking lot, Adam give repetitive instructions. If she got arrested, will he be her one call from jail, she asked. (Yes.) She had to call him when she got the receipt and got back to the car. Then, he booped.

A poll was started asking how to proceed… the winner: “Bob on phone!”

He called back just as Rinoa was about to call him. JW was sending the parcel, but he needed to answer some security questions first. He hung up before she could even ask one question. Rinoa called him back. The number was blocked.

MR vs Jack & Alan Garcia — Norton

Refund Amount: $487.00

Inv #2E54685XX78H

We called Jack from “the Norton” customer support, re: $487 invoice for Norton renewal charge. She asked him to repeat his name, he said, “not right now.” She had to open a new tab. She had a hard time finding things on the screen that he was telling her to click on! He put up the update screen, but when she could see her screen briefly, there was some sort of “url terminated” message. Next, he asked her to sign into her email, where the verification code had been sent. She then entered the code.

She could see the cancellation foam! She logged into the bank, then the update screen went up. There were more connection problems. He asked her if she had another browser, or even another computer.  The bank page was loaded with $157,304.24 as a checking balance. The update screen came up again. There was a problem, so they couldn’t send the refund. They would find another way. She asked how long he had been working there. He said a couple of minutes. He told her to close everything, including the bank, and he would transfer her case to the billing department. Then he said the billing department would give her a call back, instead of a transfer.

Rinoa said he wanted her to use the Edge browser because there was some sort of problem with the other browser. He told her to log into the bank one more time, then put her on hold again and used the update screen. He told her to hang up and receive the call from the manager. She booped him in his face, mid-word.

We answered a call from Alan Garcia from the accounts department of “the Norton.”

Rinoa said that the name of the previous person was “Notright” (“not right now”). She told him that she hadn’t received any refund.

The scammer gave up. They were sus.

JC vs David Simpson – Paypal

Refund Amount: $460.00

Request # TF00168029

Transaction ID # 168029

We called support re: $460 charge for Springfield Armory. The charge was “for firearms products.” She wanted to dispute it. He said that it would be cancelled within 24 hours. Then, he ended the call, possibly because she called him a dingbat when he asked her what she wanted to do, and she yelled that she wanted to dispute it! He said it would be cancelled, bailed, and booped.

JC vs Mark & Sean — Paypal

Refund Amount: $479.96

Order ID # XXOY56145

We called re: charge for “advanced family” for $479.96. She asked his last name. He said, “Okay,” then went back to the scam. He said that the charge was for Mcafee. Mark said that she authorized the charge. He asked if she misplaced her information. She said, “maybe 5 out of 10 times.” Bank of America, Citibank, and an unintelligible one, are all the banks linked to her bank account. She was talking over him.

He said that he cancelled her order, but he needed to patch her call to the fraud department. JC misheard it as “pet the call.” He said only the “fraudulent department” of her bank could help. He asked her for the bank name, then put her on hold.

We were transferred to Sean from Chase bank. He asked for her Social Security number so he could pull up her account. Then, he asked the state where the SSN was issued. She said that she was born at sea and can never run for president. Her birth year was ’96. He said she gave him incorrect info. How can her SSN be issued in ’81 if she was born in ’96? He booped without further comment. Rinoa said he was looking up the SSN online.

Incoming call from Alan Garcia from Norton. He said that the got disconnected. She said that they hung up on her. He said that they called another customer after the disconnection and they were waiting for HER to call THEM back. He told her to turn on her computer and he would see if she was still connected to “the world server.” This guy was boring. She asked if he ever put paint to sleep. He asked if she saw the debit in her bank account. (There was a loud scam in the background.) He said that the money has not been charged, so they would cancel it from their end. Then, he hung up. (He was whispering something just before then.)

Rinoa thought he might be upset at not having access to her virtual machine since she reset it.

Incoming call from Jack the manager. Turned out that it’s Jack the opener from Norton aka “Notnow,” same center as the last call. He asked if she turned off her computer. She said that she had.

Jack: You don’t want the refund?

He told her to turn on her computer and was trying to get her to download the remote software again. (There was a loud scam in background.) She had trouble with the procedure. He said it would take 2 minutes. She asked how he knew she had Chase bank. She hadn’t had one for years.

Jack: I thought.

He told her to close everything, then log into the online banking. He was calling from Washington D.C. He told her to wait. (There was still a loud scam in background.)

MR: You’re in Seattle Washington DC?

Jack: yes.

He had been there for 35 years.

Jack: Do not talk, okay?

He was getting quite nasty in the way he demanded that she log into her bank, barking orders, not requesting. She called him on it, saying he was been rude, asking weird questions.

He suddenly burst into (English) profanity. Then, the call ended… not sure who booped.
