His phone had a terrible connection, so he had to call us back. He tried to connect the computers. The internet wasn’t working properly on the VM, so it took a moment to get the VM working properly. But Rinoa was able to connect it quickly enough that the scammer stayed with the call. She filled out a googledoc form and submitted it.

We were transferred to his banking manager / refund officer, Jason, from the World Bank refund department.

He connected us to the World Bank Portal to try to transfer the refund money.

The screen kept updating at inconvenient times. He said that the updating screen was verifying her identity. But somehow, it ended up removing the decimal point that she had clearly typed.

JW had difficulty understanding why the portal said 40000 but 15,000 ended up in her account. He became very frustrated with her. He told her to write a selfcheck. While she doesn’t work in a bank or anything, she said that writing a check to herself and cashing it won’t get the money back to him.

Jason: Are you going to follow the instructions I give you or are you going to use your own brain?

He told her to withdraw $14,500 cash and said that he would guide her from there.

She said that she would write a check to the world bank. He didn’t like that.

JW requested an apology for how rude he had been. He said that he didn’t need to apologize. He got very rude. JW thought maybe she could use her card to give the money to him.

JW: Do you have tap to pay? Where’s your tap machine?

He bailed and booped. He called back a moment later and said rude things…. But he’s not very creative and couldn’t come up with anything interesting to say. He bailed and booped again.
