She Went Ahead...
We called Shane (Bathtub), who we’ve spoken to for the last two days.
Timer started at 5hr 59min 00sec
Shane was very upset about the risk of losing his job.
He told her to buy two Apple giftcards for $500 each.
NH: OK. I’ll follow the directions on the card and figure it out.
We booped in his face so that we could go get the giftcards while leaving the phone on the charger at home.
Total Time Wasted including the Last Two Days: 6hr 06min 14sec

M calling a health insurance scammer.
Zip code 94118
DOB 02/9/52
Annual income $4,000. Her children take care of her for the most part.
She said that we didn’t have enough income to qualify. She bailed and booped.
Total Time Wasted: 3min 52sec

NH(?) vs Eddie Rose (Eddie, Ed, & Rose) & Sam Martin & Jonathan Smith
Refund Amount: $897.99; $300.00, then the rest later
Scam Amount: $30,000.00
AnyDesk was used.
The charge was for a Samsung TV.
His phone was breaking up horribly. Extremely difficult to understand him. We called him back on a different line. Sam Martin answered. We asked for Eddie and were transferred to him instantly.
He connected the computers. He asked her to check her bank account to look for the charge.
We were transferred to Jonathan in the refund department.
Jonathan had a not-so-sparkling personality. She “forgot” to type the decimal properly when entering the refund amount.
Jonathan: Ma’am, I believe you have gone ahead and done a mistake.
Jonathan was confused by the banking site and seemed to get very suspicious suddenly. He asked her if she ran a YouTube channel. After a moment, he asked her if she knew how to transfer the money back.
He said that she has been logging into a fake website for her bank. He told her to log in from the real bank website. She asked for his last name.
He said he knew who she is. She said that he should know who she is, since she had given him her information.
He was super suspicious and wouldn’t back down, but she also wasn’t giving in. He told her to just cancel the transfer. We said we would and then booped. After he hung up, he continued to try to lock her computer, then called her back. We didn’t answer.
Total Time Wasted: 50min 29sec
Timer started at 6hr 6min 14sec
We sent a photo of the giftcard redeem to Shane (Bathtub), then called him.
The person who answered the phone said that he was Shane, but he didn’t sound like Shane. He told us to hang up and he would call back. We booped.
He called back. It still wasn’t Shane. This scammer said that Shane was talking to another customer. We were upset that he had obviously lied to us yesterday, since he hadn’t lost his job. It made no sense that he would prioritize speaking to another customer over us since the $10,000 should have been his highest priority.
NH: Clearly, his bathtub time is more important than getting this fixed.
We told him to have Bathtub call us back when he was available.
Total Time Wasted: 6hr 13min 45sec

NH vs Lilian Kennedy & Marcus — Norton
Refund Amount: $355 for a web cleaner; $300 first
Scam Amount: $30,000.00
She connected the computers and showed NH the cancellations & refund form.
Lilian has been working there for 10 years.
Transaction ID# 786143 After the form was filled out, she told NH to log into her bank and accept the refund.
We were transferred to Marcus on the financial team.
While he was walking us through the process, we learned that his wife was about to give birth to twins! He chose to go to work rather than to the hospital to support her and be there for the birth of his children.
He told her to follow the prompts on the server. He told her that her keyboard was malfunctioning, causing her to enter too many zeroes. He “called” his boss to discuss the situation. The boss thought that she may be trying to scam them, but he assured him that she was a beautiful and kind client.
While he was talking to his boss, she had a conversation with her imaginary friend. He said that she needed to return the money to him. He told her to wait for a long time while the computer was frozen.
He told her to go to the bank to withdraw $15,000 cash to avoid the 30% tax and because they wouldn’t let her withdraw the whole $30,000. He mentioned sending the money to an organization, but she didn’t understand why he wanted her to donate the money to charity.
He told her that she would need to pack up the money in a box and send it via UPS. He said that she needed to have a cellphone because he needed to stay on the phone with her. She only had a landline. He didn’t know what to do about this and put her on hold.
We must have been disconnected. We got a call from Marcus, who said that everything had been fixed. While we were talking to him, Bathtub was calling us back. Marcus was very upset that she didn’t have a cellphone. He also was upset when we didn’t have a printer or a scanner. He asked if we had a camera. She said we could send a picture of the paper we were going to take notes on.
Total Time Wasted: 1hr 18min 16sec
One of Bathtub’s coworkers called us again, but we wouldn’t talk to him because we were waiting for Bathtub to call us.
